Intrinsic Contents of the Bolzano Weierstrass Property

I have a question regarding the properties of any compact (Hausdorff) metric space. In the following, $(X,d)$ denotes a compact metric space with metric $d$.
Let $x,y \in X$ with $x eq y$. We have the following property:
Theorem: If $(X,d)$ is complete, and $X \subset K^n$ is compact (in the standard topology), then the following two statements hold:

If $\lambda x \leq y \leq \mu x$, then $d(x,y) \leq 1/\lambda$, with equality iff $x = y$.

If $C$ is a closed, bounded, convex subset of $X$ with $0 \in C$, then the supremum $\sup_{x \in C} d(x,0)$ is finite.

My questions are:

Are there any “intrinsic” proofs for the Bolzano Weierstrass Property?
If not, are there any easy proofs?
(for 1.)
If not, are there any proofs using only (1)?

A:

Assume $X$ is not compact. Then $X$ is the union of two
