Hey guys, I got a Macbook Pro 3,1 running 10.11.5, and I was trying to install an older version of Python for a side project I’m working on. I’m using bootcamp to run ubuntu. However, the only disk partition I have available to me is Macintosh HD. I boot into Ubuntu with my liveCD and mount the partition as /dev/sda5, but whenever I try to install python it says it can’t write the file because it’s on a read-only file system. I’ve also tried to run as root and change the permission but nothing seems to work. Any advice on this?
Simply boot into macOS and run Disk Utility from the Utilities folder, format your backup drive and mount it in Ubuntu.
