“We are very proud that Raytheon has been selected as our primary contractor for the BMD system, the first new ship class to have been designed around the Aegis BMD system, and one of the fastest warships in the world today,” said Navy Capt. Josh R. McClougal, the Spokesperson for Program Executive Officer, Navy Ships, Space and Combat Systems. “These major systems are essential to the maintenance of a modern Navy.”

The Navy has awarded a single firm contract to Raytheon to be followed by two foreign shipyards, with a total of 16 awards to Raytheon.
